As enterprises seek to keep up with fast changing market conditions, the software platform that they operate their businesses on must change at the same pace. However the existing software paradigms of client server or even multi-tier computing with standards such as J2EE do allow for rapid evolution of IT environments. A new paradigm is in its evolutionary stages where software functionality is bundled as services and the service is available for run time access as opposed to a component that must be compiled into the application. During this workshop we will discuss service orientation and the current set of standards known as Web Services in this space.
 

   
   

The course will first provide an introduction to the concept of service orientation using Web services as the implementation platform. The following topics will then be covered:
