GNOWSYS: Gnowledge networking and organizing system is an ongoing project at Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, TIFR. An official GNU project (http://www.gnu.org/software/gnowsys/) is developing as a semantic computing system with built in distributed and agent oriented technology based on semantic web standards.
GNOWSYS is an acronym for Gnowledge Networking and Organizing SYStem. The 'G' in GNOWSYS is pronounced hard just as the 'G' in GNU. It is a web-application with unique features that make it only one of its kind. It is developed as a product of a widely used free (as in freedom) web-application server, ZOPE (Zee Object Publishing Environment), and is implemented in a versatile, full-featured object-oriented programming language Python. Currently its development is supported by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, TIFR. GNOWSYS is a GNU project (since December 2004). License: GNOWSYS is free software; you can redistribute it and/or modify it under the terms of the GNU General Public License as published by the Free Software Foundation; either version 2 of the License, or (at your option) any later.
